Upper North Platte
This challenging fishery averages 5000-7000 fish per mile on the more recognizable Treasure Island float with Browns, Cutthroats, and Rainbow trout as the primary species. A freestone fishery that requires daily checkins to know the flows for navigation (this river can be treacherous) and should only be navigated by experienced oarsmen. This is the spot to leave the bobbers behind and get the streamers, and dry and dry-dropper rigs ready. Our advanced angler fishery has a smaller window to really enjoy this very special location, so if you think your up for the challenge then pitter patter lets get at er. Get your name on the short list to see the most scenic and buggy stretch of the North Platte system.
Why our guides love this place is also what makes it so challenging. The wild fish population match the untamed landscape but when its right its hard to find anything better. Long shuttle trips are hard on boats and trailers alike. Miles of rowing and the constant oars work to keep drifts in the zone are a next level workout program. Do our guides love it… absolutely.

Best Time Of Year For These Trips Is March Through October.
The bug activity on the Upper Platte and Encampment Rivers is unmatched but the window to take advantage of aggressively feeding fish can be short.
Encampment River
Navigated by raft, this smaller hard charging river is full of fast paced action containing the most vertical drop on the North Platte river system. River volume is dictated by rainfall and snowmelt making it challenging to predict with its overnight swelling or dropping conditions. Not for the novice oarsman with
This is another advanced angler type of trip where your ability to place accurate casts, strip streamers, and turn over dry-dropper rigs is a must. Post run-off is prime time with prolific hatches of Drakes, Caddis, Salmon flies, Golden Stones and more marry up with dropping and clearing river conditions make this river the place to be.

The flush fished well and we are sitting at 1500cfs for river conditions today. This flow has the fish happy and feeding aggressively. Boats are finding doubles on the regular and life is good.

Winter Dec-Feb
Not likely able to fish or float this time of year

Spring March- May
March is a possibility with pre run-off window can have some amazing days but its very hard to predict. Feel free to throw your name on our last minute float fish list and if its not fishable our back up location is getting you on the Mile.
Flies: Have a healthy stash of bwo emerges as a welcome to spring offering. Midges work great so look for pods of actively feeding fish in the tail-outs of runs.

Summer June- August
Upper Platte and Encampment rivers are potentially fishing at their best during the middle of June through early July. The trade off for this quality of fishing is the difficult to predict water levels and clarity.
Best advice to give our guests is to leave your calendar as open as you can and make it onto our short list of guests to call when the river is coming into shape. Fishing on the fringes can produce great days but we are always in search of the crazy good outings…
Also guests dial in your role cast to then load and send out a 30′ plus laser against brush covered banks where water clarity is most consistent. These fish will entertain you as they chase streamers over sizable distances back to the boat. The follow is sure to send surges of excited through your body as fish swipe, miss, swipe again and connect to your presentation.. keep those flies moving.

Fall Sept. – Nov.
Not a better place to watch the changing of the leaves and chase opportunistic trout. This fishery is still producing through October and if you want to see an epic Trico bug hatch then this is the spot. Fish feed with reckless abandon during this time so find the quality noses to target or look for the rolling fish to see the distance from dorsal fin to tail fin. That distance between the two fins can mean fish of the day!!
